Last Thursday saw three Anstey teams competing at home. This Thursday we have another three! Happy birthday to one of our resident Teachers Ken! 🥳🥳🥳 Wishing him all the best and many wins over the board! The Anstey Chess Club started the new league campaign this week, with a historical number of teams, outnumbering every other club in the county! The first home outing for our teams was a double Anstey Vs Anstey, with many surprising results, a trend customary for those clashes! Congratulations to Ted The Steamroller for finishing an already successful season with a trophy from the Challengers division of the individual county championship! Summer is officially over! With your favourite club hosting the Trophy presentation ceremony last Thursday, the 2024-25 season officially concluded. People from around the county gathered for the ceremony and a charity rapid tournament where three Anstey teams competed for the first spot! Blitz tournament, Club and County Championship games. This is what Thursday evening filled with chess looks like! Multiple matches and lots of fun last Thursday, including a summer cup fixture, a club championship round and as usual, some casual friendly games. Last Thursday three of our juniors made their debut against solid opposition in the Harrod Cup. Yvon, Harry, Leo and the already experienced Theo the Mad Hatter brought proper fire on their boards and didn't leave any points for their opponents making their acting captain on the night proud and humbled! When it comes to hats, there's no one even remotely close to our own Mad Hatter! 🤠😎Captaining his own ship last Thursday, Theo calmly navigated through the fire on the board during his County Championship game...♟️🔥🦉😎🤠
